Creative Vado point and shoot camcorder

Creative's new Vado camcorder may not be able to shoot high definition video, but if you're just after something light and portable to carry with you then it's more than up to the job.

It can only record video at a resolution of 640x480, which is slightly lower than DVD quality but more than enough if you're planning on uploading your footage to the internet. The Vado also comes preloaded with its own YouTube upload application, so getting your footage on the video sharing site is a doddle.

As it's not capturing as much data as an HD camcorder, it can store two hours of footage on its 2GB memory. It will also last two hours when fully charged, so you don't need to worry about it running out of juice.

LG Steam Direct Drive washing machine

LG's new washing machine uses steam power to freshen up your clothes in super-quick time. If you haven't got time to wait for a full wash to dry, just check in your garments and set it to Steam Refresh. In 20 minutes your togs will pop out crease free and smelling fresh.

It's an intelligent washer, so although it will take a full load up to 9Kg, it will weigh what's in the drum and automatically use less water and power if it's only partially loaded. It's got an A++ energy rating too, so uses 35 percent less water and 21 percent less energy than traditional A rated machines.

As it's a direct drive model it also promises fewer vibrations as there are no pulleys or belts involved so it's significantly quieter than a normal model.

Hannsg HG281DJ 1080p high definition monitor

There still aren't that many devices available that can output full high definition material at 1080p, but you may have something suitable sat right in front of you - your humble PC. A resolution of 1,920x1,080 may sound troubling to a consumer electronics device, but a modern PC should have little problem with that pixel count.

If that's the case, then Hannsg's new HG281DJ monitor is just the thing you need to view full HD material on your computer. With a 28in screen and a native resolution of 1,920x1,200 it's perfect if you need extra desktop real estate. Although it offers a large display area, it has a slim bezel so it shouldn't take up too much space.

It also features a fast 3ms response time, so if you're watching fast action video on it then it won't all dissolve into an unwatchable smeary mess.

Sharp HT-DV50H home cinema system

Sharp's new home cinema setup will help give your audio a boost if you're finding your TV speakers are a little lacking. The tall boy speakers are also eye certainly catching too.

The HT-DV50H supports the latest Audistry technology from Dolby, which will tune the output so no matter what you play it will sound its best whether its movies or music. It also has an intelligent volume control, so sudden changes in volume won't have you leaping for the remote.

There's HDMI for simple setup and it features a built in DVD drive that supports DivX video too so you've got plenty of playback options. There's also a USB port, so you can hook up external devices and playback MP3, WMA or JPEG files without a problem.

RIM BlackBerry Bold 3G handset

The BlackBerry Bold is the latest addition to RIM's family of email enabled handsets. With a newly polished interface and 3G downloads it’s the slickest, fastest BlackBerry yet.

It's got a reasonably high res screen with a half-VGA resolution of 480x320 pixels so whether you're ploughing through your inbox or watching video it will look great. In addition to tri-band HSDPA, for fast three 3G downloads, there's also WiFi so you can hop on a hotspot whenever you're in range. There's also no excuse for getting lost as it's got GPS built in too.

It comes with a generous 1GB of internal storage and you can easily add more thanks to the microSD slot. It features a new web browser, which can view full HTML and as you would expect from BlackBerry it's fully equipped for email too.

Sony Bravia V4500 TV with HD tuner

It may be sometime until high definition broadcasts come to Freeview, but if you want to future-proof yourself for that day then Sony's new Bravia V4500 set includes an HD tuner so you can be well prepared.

The integrated tuner can decode MPEG-4 AVC transmissions so when compatible broadcasts appear in the airwaves it will be able to display them in their full high definition glory. Available in 26in, 32in or 37in screen sizes, the V4500 doesn't stretch to the highest HD resolution of 1080p, but can handle 720p and 1080i without a problem. It also supports 24fps playback, so you can watch Blu-ray movies at the frame rate they were filmed at.

When you're not watching TV you can switch it into picture frame mode and view images stored on USB memory or a selection of classics from artists like Van Gogh in the built in gallery.

Iomega eGo Camo portable hard drive

A portable hard drive should ideally be able to take a knock or two, since you're likely to be carrying it around. Iomega has designed the eGo Camo with durability in mind and it comes with a couple of features to keep it safe from harm.

First up, Iomega's DropGuard technology protects it from accidental falls up to 1.29m whereas other manufacture's drives can only survive a drop less than 1m. Secondly, the Power Grip band isn't just for show or keeping a firm grasp on the drive - it adds extra protection so it can survive a tumble up to 1.52m.

With a capacity of 250GB, you could store over 1 million photos on it or backup up 4,625 hours of music. Just make sure you don't put it down in the jungle, though, as you might not be able to find it again.

HTC Touch Diamond iPhone botherer

HTC is no doubt hoping to lure away some customers holding out for a 3G iPhone with its new Touch Diamond handset. Although it runs Windows Mobile 6.1, HTC has included its own TouchFlo 3D interface which allows you to navigate just by prodding at the screen and includes slick 3D animation.

The interface isn't the only impressive thing - it supports fast HSDPA downloads and also speedy HSUPA uploads as well, so you won't have to hang around waiting for snaps from the 3.2 megapixel camera to upload to the web. There's also WiFi for when you're in range of a hotspot and GPS so you can find out where you are.

Storage-wise it only stretches to 4GB though, so it's a little short on space for music and movies.

Oregon Scientific Meteo weather forecasting watch

With Oregon Scientific's new Meteo watch you can make sure you're ready for whatever the unpredictable climate will bring even if you've missed the latest weather forecast.

Allowing you to take your own personal weather station with you wherever you go, the Meteo measures barometric pressure trends and reports back its findings for the next 12 to 24 hours via four easy to read icons representing sunny, partly cloudy, cloudy and rainy. There's no need to worry if you do venture out against its better judgement and get caught in a shower as it's waterproof.

In addition to helping to keep you dry, it can tell the time too and has a large, digital display. It also has a calendar, so you can keep track of dates and a stopwatch too.

The Meteo will be available in May for £39.99 from Oregon Scientific.

TomTom One satnav with built in mount

TomTom has redesigned its One range of easy to use satnavs and the new version now comes with a built in windscreen mount. The EasyPort mount folds away into the back of the unit, so you're less likely to leave it attached to the windscreen and risk getting broken into by thieves looking for your satnav.

The new design now has a much large speaker, so it's much easier to make out spoken commands even if you've got the radio cranked up or are driving around a bunch of unruly children.

It comes with TomTom's latest map guarantee, which means if a new version is released within 30 days of you buying one, then you can download the updated map for free. You can also get map updates submitted by fellow TomTom users thanks to the Map Share feature.
